Maria V. Cerda

Maria Cerda, 96, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Hospice House.

She was born on December 8, 1929, in Crystal City, Texas, to Frederico & Maria Villalobos. On April 12, 1949, she married Francisco M. Cerda. Shortly after, work brought them to Wisconsin, & they eventually settled in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2025.

For over 30 years, she worked at Western Publishing in Racine. During her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her 2 loving daughters, Rose (Francisco) Perez & Susana (Domingo) Palomo; grandchildren, Claudia (Braulio) Jaramillo, Corinna (Christian) Vargas, Brianna & Samantha Palomo; great-grandchildren, Gabriela, Luis, Theodore, Camila & Mateo. She is further survived by 3 sisters, 1 brother, nieces & nephews.

Along with her parents, & beloved husband, she was preceded in death by 1 brother & 2 sisters.

Maria was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, & great grandmother.

A visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home the following day, Monday, August 31, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii Parish, 2224 45th Ave, Kenosha at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
