Thomas Michael Schultz, 64 years old of Kenosha, WI, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, surrounded by family at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa, WI, after a long battle with M.S.
Tom was born into a large family in Kenosha, WI to the late Vincent Schultz and Sylvia Schultz Shierk. With four older sisters, he was the first of two sons that rounded out their humble family of 8.
Tom worked as a Master Electrician before retirement and was a proud union member of IBEW Local #150 for most of his career. He loved tinkering on almost anything and once he started something, he saw it through. Tom was a creative thinker who focused more on the functionality of things than on their aesthetics. When repairing things, the result wasn’t always pretty but was certain to be robust and work extremely well.
Tom was also an avid movie collector with a special affinity for science fiction, cheesy creature features, spaghetti westerns, war movies, and classics from MGM’s Golden era. Growing up with four older sisters meant he was subjected to endless musicals. Surprisingly, he retained a fondness for favorites such as Oliver & Co., Showboat, The King and I, South Pacific, and even Lawrence Welk. Many a night he could be heard whistling various movie melodies as he puttered in his workshop.
A private, self-reliant individual, Tom valued solitude and enjoyed playing multi-player World War II strategy board games all on his own. He was often found deep in thought at his kitchen table while he calculated the complex troop deployment and macroeconomics of combat and domination unfolding before him. Additional favorite hobbies included eating food straight from a can, enjoying his “tap water”, falling asleep while watching NASCAR, and hoarding lint rollers.
Tom’s favorite place to be was his home in central Wisconsin, which he shared with devoted partner, Marjorie Martinez. They loved working on improvements together while watching the local wildlife enjoy their property, too. Some of the wildlife they cherished included a clowder of felines, which they quickly befriended and cared for in addition to their ‘inside’ cats, Scooter, Bob, and Liza.
Survivors include his children, April Schultz and Matthew (Kristin) Schultz; siblings, Rita (the late Andy) Davis, Jean (Richard) Hendrickson, Susan Thomas, Christine Kaseberg, and John Schultz; his stepfather Dcn. Wilson Shierk; step-siblings, Rosemary (Jeff) Martin and Andy (Babette) Shierk; grandchildren, Caiden, Kaylee, and Katherine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins (and his lint rollers). Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and several beloved members of his extended family; his better half, Marjorie Martinez, and their cherished felines.
Memorial visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Journey Church [Youth entrance], 10700 75th St., Kenosha, WI with a memorial service to commence at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local animal shelter, or plant a tree in Tom’s memory. Arrangements are entrusted to Proko Funeral Home.
