Kathleen “Kathy” O’Malley, 77, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Brookside Care Center.
Born on September 4, 1949, in Elgin, IL, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Rosemary (Lindsey) Cook. She attended local school and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Northern IL University.
On August 3, 1974, she married George O’Malley in Libertyville, IL. They then moved to Kenosha, WI, where they have resided since.
Kathy was employed as an elementary school teacher in IL, then later Kenosha Unified School District until her retirement in 2011.
She was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the Kenosha Education Association. In her younger years, she loved traveling the world with her husband, especially in Europe and Colorado. She also enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and cooking. Above all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and family, who brought her the greatest joy.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, George O’Malley of Kenosha, WI; two adoring children, Jenny (Mike) Baker of Kenosha, WI, and Edward O’Malley of Racine, WI; two grandchildren, Steven Baker and Katherine “Kate” (Russ Raethke) Baker; and three siblings, Jim Cook, Barb Palmer, and Lori LaRosa.
Private services were held in accordance with Kathy’s wishes.
