Renée Kreuser went to heaven on Easter morning. Born to the late Reuben J. and Ethel (DeVine) DeVroy on June 8, 1921 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Racine, WI, she attended schools in Racine and Green Bay, WI, before graduating from Horlick High School in 1940. On February 25, 1948, Renée married Charles C. Kreuser at St. James Catholic Church, who preceded her passing on May 17, 1989. A proud World War II Veteran, Renée enlisted in the United States Navy on October 17, 1943 and became a Seaman First Class USNR, being honorably discharged on December 17, 1945. After training in Bronx, NY, she was stationed at Terminal Island in San Pedro, CA, serving as a captain’s orderly, dispensary and manager of ships services, turning down an offer at the war’s end to continue with the U.S. military in the then territory of Hawaii. Renée was a devoted member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and School. Among her positions there, she served as Vice President and Secretary of the Home and School (PTA), Health Chairman, President and Secretary of the Altar Society, Room Mother for all grades, Den Mother for Cub Scout Troop No. 23 and Brownie Leader. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Post 21, 40/8, La Societe de Femme, Local No. 410, Founders Club, Disabled War Veterans, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as secretary. Renée worked at Eisendraft’s Tanning Company, Racine Drill & Punch Press, Jockey and Chrysler. She loved dogs, bowling (rolling a 267 high), bingo, slot machines, Uno, bike riding, fishing, catfish and lobster, sending people cards, going out to eat at Gateway Cafe, Felicia’s and The House of Gerhard, mail order, game shows, crime dramas and The Young and The Restless. Surviving is her son Charles of Kenosha, two daughters, Mary Christine Bowe (and her loving son-in-law Bob), Naples, FL and Phyllis of New York City, NY; two grandsons, David (Rosemary), Fitchburg, WI and Michael of Kenosha; two great granddaughters, Morgan and Mallorie; one sister, Kathleen Houtsinger of Kenosha; her special niece Dorothy Ellis of Kenosha; her devoted former daughter-in-laws Cathleen Carroll and Sharon Spencer of Kenosha, many dear nieces and nephews and countless friends. Renée was also preceded in death by two sons David and John, a sister, Rosemary Farnsworth, two brothers Robert and John DeVroy, and her loving, devoted nephew, Al Ellis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 28th, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m. Entombment will take place on Friday at All Saints Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude’s Hospital, The Michael J. My heartfelt condolences to all of the DeVroy, Houtsinger, and Krueser families. I know how well loved Renee was by all. I will miss her deeply. I have much to thank her for over the years. May God bless you all and keep you strong during this trying time. Hang in there Mary Bowe and Aunt Kay.

Mary, we are so very sorry to hear about your mother. I know she was comforted by you being with her and she is now in heaven. May the memories and good times be of comfort to you in the future as well as the times she spent with you and Bob the last few years in the winter in Naples.
