DuWayne “Dewey” Criter, 64 years old, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital. He was born in August of 1959, to Donald and Mary Criter. He grew up on a farm in Jericho and was always busy helping around the farm. He went to school at Gateway Technical College. He was later employed for WE Energies, now known as WEC Energy Group. He started out as a Lineman and worked his way up to a Troubleman in his 45 years of service. He married Debra, in 1981. When Dewey wasn’t working, you would find him out tending to his vegetable garden or trimming trees to make them perfect. He loved to golf and would go on an annual golf outing with his buddies to TN. He was a true Wisconsinite loving his Packers and Friday fish fry’s or riding his Harley whenever the weather was nice. He and Debbie would walk to church a couple miles every week to attend Mass. He always held a special place in his heart for his family and loved his two grandkids dearly. Survivors include his wife of almost 43 years, Debbie; sons, Jason and Eric (Robin); grandchildren, Katie and Henry; mother, Mary; siblings, Phyllis (Ted), Daniel (Audrey), Dennis (Millie), David (Debby), Donna (David), Dean (Kristie), and Denise (boyfriend Pete); 22 nieces and nephews; and three great nieces and nephews. Dewey was preceded in death by his father, Donald; sister, Sandy; mother-in-law, June; father-in-law, William; and brothers-in-law, William Jr. and Jody. Per the families wishes, private services will be held for Dewey. I do not have a lot of memories of DuWayne but I did see him in our early years at family gatherings, weddings, funerals, and community picnics. I remember him as quiet, reserved, and even-tempered. He will always be remembered in Lu and my prayers along with Sandy his sister.I remember passing Don & Mary’s farm on the way to Jericho to 5am Mass during Lent when I was about 8-10 years old.Anthony Hemauer (first cousin)Anthony Hemauer (first cousin)

I worked with Dewey at Wisconsin Electric for over 30 years. It was always a pleasure to work with him. He recently made a primary neutral repair at my house & cut some tree branches. We had a nice conversation on my porch. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace. Sincerely, Jim Rhode

My heart is hurting seeing this news. I just spoke to him prior to leaving for my vacation & I came back to the tragic news. He was a great employee that I had the honor of paying. Play as many rounds of golf as you would like my friend with no worries of getting called out by work. You will be missed, Payroll Julie
