Delbert H. Wendt, 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Robin Way Assisted Living. Born in Tigerton, WI on August 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Herzberg) Wendt. He was educated in the schools of Tigerton. Following high school, Delbert moved to Chicago to work for Cadillac and enlisted in the National Guard. On June 18, 1960, he married Sandra Ladwig in Tigerton. Delbert was employed as a machinist at American Motors/Chrysler for 38 years and retired in 1998. He was a member of the UAW Local 72. Delbert's number one priority was his family and he loved his grandsons more than anything. He was a hardworking man who was skilled in car repair, landscaping, plumbing, electrical work, and more. Delbert loved going to Tigerton on the weekends and working at the family farm, undertaking many projects there. He and his friends, “The Chicago Bunch” enjoyed many gatherings together, especially going to Brewers games. Delbert enjoyed polka music and dancing, listening to the concertina, attending over 100 concerts in the Wisconsin Dells with his wife, fishing, deer hunting, and his 1956 Ford Victoria. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sandra; two daughters, Kristine (Jarrell) Taylor and Stacey (Scott Jarvela) Wendt; two grandsons, Nathan Taylor and Matthew (Elyse Transon) Taylor; and a sister, Sandra Mattner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen (Maryann) Wendt and Wallace (Luella) Wendt; and a brother-in-law, Walter Mattner. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 3rd, at Bethany Lutheran Church/New Life Lutheran Church, 2100 75th Street, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place on Thursday, August 5th, at Union Cemetery in Tigerton.
