Richard W. Mattie
Richard W. “Rick” Mattie, 57, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 27, 1961, he was the son of the late Francis and Emma (Ashton) Mattie. Rick was educated in the schools of Philadelphia. On July 31, 1982, he married Ellen Burns in Philadelphia. In 1995, they moved their family to Kenosha. Rick worked as a sheet metal mechanic for the U.S. Government, most recently at Great Lakes Naval Base until his retirement in January of 2017. For many years Rick also delivered newspapers for the Kenosha News. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially those involving his home town of Philadelphia. He enjoyed cooking, was a Kenosha baseball umpire, and loved to collect memorabilia, particularly involving the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Ellen Mattie of Kenosha; three children, Sean Mattie of Tabernacle, NJ, Holly Mattie of Kenosha, and Brian (Kaitelyn) Mattie of Titusville, PA; a sister, Joan (Richard) Van Horn of Lawton, OK; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Skylar, Brayden, Makayla and Carson. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 4th, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. At a later date, the family will also be having a celebration of life in his home town of Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit & Sign Rick’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com
