Herbert “Mickey” Mitchell Patterson, 79, of Kenosha, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. He fought a long battle with cancer. He was born on August 10, 1935, in Elizabethtown, IL, the son of the late Henrietta Patterson. After High School he moved to Zion, IL, and worked at Warwick Electronics, where he met his beautiful and devoted wife, Donna Barlow. They married November 1, 1958. One month later he was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served until his honorable discharge in December of 1960. He retired from the City of Kenosha, January 2, 1998, after 30 years of service, 22 of those years were with the Water Department and the last 8 were with the Parks Department. Family was everything to Mickey and he never met a stranger. Mickey is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna of Kenosha; his only daughter, Penny (Greg) Hansen of Las Vegas, NV; his only granddaughter, Kendal (Tony) Barriere; and three precious great-grandchildren, Anthony Ray (5), Jack Mitchell (3) and Norah Evelyn (1) all of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his mother and his only brother, Gordon. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 22nd, at Proko Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. with full military honors to follow. Interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.
