After retiring from the police force, he worked at the Dairyland Greyhound Park until it closed, and he also worked for a number of years as a bailiff with the Kenosha County Courthouse until he left in 2012 due to health problems. He was a member of the Italian-American Club, where he served as a board member for many years, and was a current member of the board of the Police and Fire Credit Union. Survivors include his wife, Ferne Cerqua of Kenosha; two sons, Tobia “Toby” Cerqua of Milwaukee; and Thomas “Tommy” Cerqua of Madison; a sister-in-law, June Cerqua of Brookfield; his mother-in-law, Florence Paul Wesselius of Kenosha; and many other relatives and close friends.
