Nelle Marie NICOLAZZI
Nelle Marie Nicolazzi, 91, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at HCR Manorcare. Born in Fleming, KY, on October 6, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Talbert B. and Della Mae (Lovely) Scenters. She was educated in the schools of Kentucky and West Virginia before coming to Kenosha in 1942. On April 24, 1944, she married John Nicolazzi in Hopkinsville, KY. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1991. Nelle was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’ Friendly Center, Christian Women’s Club and was active with the Shoreliners Drum and Bugle Corp. She enjoyed knitting, ceramics and was an excellent pie maker. Survivors include her son, John D. Nicolazzi of Palm Springs, CA; her two daughters, Donna Nicolazzi and Catherine “Kitty” (Michael) Plovanich, both of Kenosha; four grandchildren, Karin (George Riccio) Anderson, Jennifer Funk, Geoff Plovanich and Samantha Nicolazzi; and five great-grandchildren. Nelle is also survived by her dear friends, Kathy and Jim Nelson She was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Taylor; and two brothers, Wilbert Jerome Scenters in infancy and John W. Scenters. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Shepler for his many years of compassionate care to both Nelle and John, to Karen Cox for opening her home as a wonderful caregiver to Nelle, and to the staff at HCR Manorcare and Hospice Alliance for all of their care and kindness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 13th, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 7117-14th Avenue, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
