Beverly Elaine Dreger
Beverly E. (Buechner) Dreger, 82, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born on August 6, 1928, in Somers, WI, she was the daughter of the late J. Henry and Dagmar M. (Christensen) Buechner. A lifelong resident of Kenosha Co., she attended Burr Oak Elementary School, 9th Grade at Washington Jr. High in Kenosha, and was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. She received her teaching degree from the Racine/Kenosha Rural Normal School, and later attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. On August 13, 1955, she married Leon T. Dreger at Atonement Lutheran Church in Racine. He passed away on September 1, 2009. She was a School Teacher in Kenosha Co. for 31 ½ years. After her retirement, she worked as an Insurance Agent for Kenosha County Mutual for 9 years. Beverly was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Kenosha County Retired Educators Assoc. (Co-Pres. 1994-1995), Retired Educators Assoc., Wisconsin Educators Assoc., Retired National Education Assoc., Kenosha Unified 25 year Club, Lakeshore Red Cross Board of Directors for 3 years, Kenosha County Farm Bureau Women’s Board of Directors for 7 years as Treasurer, Secretary and President, Kenosha Women’s Club as parliamentarian and department chair and over committee chair of Charitables, Kenosha Co. Assoc. for Family and Community Education as Secretary of the Board where she worked on Extension Line, International & Citizenship Committees, and Bullamore Forks (KCAFCE) Club as President. She was also a member of the Kenosha Senior Center, Post-Polio Resource Group, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Kenosha and the Danish Sisterhood Lodge #20. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and gardening. Surviving are a son, Dwight Elliot Dreger of Schaumburg, IL; a daughter, Sandra Lee (Phil) Hall of Dallas, TX; and a sister, Beatrice J. Houtz. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce E. Cronin in 1995. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8th, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
