Carl B. Eckstrom, 85, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center. He was born March 19, 1925, in Jump River, WI, the son of the late Fritz Albin and Alida Maria (Johnson) Eckstrom. He moved to Kenosha in 1950. On June 21, 1944, he entered the United States Navy, served overseas in the South Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged on June 21, 1946. On June 27, 1953, he married Mary Paul at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Before retiring in 1988, Carl was employed by AMC for 38 1/2 years as a repair welder. He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, VFW Post 1865, Ke-Nash-A Club, and the Senior Citizen’s Center. He enjoyed playing pool, gardening - especially strawberries, and he took great pride in his yard. Surviving him are his wife, Mary of Kenosha; his son, John (Tammy) Eckstrom of Elburn, IL; two grandchildren, Amanda and Zachary; and two brothers, George (Joyce) Eckstrom of Jump River, WI, and Hilmer (Bonnie) Eckstrom of Gilman, WI. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arleen Lastovich; and two brothers, John Donald Eckstrom and Kenneth Eckstrom. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Mass will be held on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Proko Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
