Loyd W. SMITH
Loyd W. Smith, Sr., 68, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away Sunday, March 9th, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha. Born on September 27, 1939, in Valton, WI, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Sloniker) Smith. He was united in marriage to Roberta A. Andrews at Peace Lutheran Church in Park Falls, WI, from August 14, 1965, until her death on October 24, 2002. Loyd was an employee of J.I. Case in Racine until 1991. He then opened his own business, Smitty's Repair On Site. He was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, The Moose Lodge, and National Mutual Benefit Insurance Council Fraternal Organization, Branch #712. Loyd enjoyed watching sports, working on mechanical equipment, and playing cards with his family and friends. Surviving are his two sons, Loyd W. (Kris Baumgartner) Smith, Jr. of New Glarus, WI, and James L. (Meg) Smith of Fayetteville, NC; twin daughters, Renae (Mark) Mutchie of Waukesha, WI, and RoseAnn (Cory) Knight of Pleasant Prairie, WI; a sister, Leora (Walter) Lattin of Blanchardville, WI; and four grandchildren, Tania and Julia Mutchie, and Zachary and Nathan Knight. He was preceded in death his brother, Harold Smith, and two sisters, Leona Grinder and Etta Ward. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14th, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at St. Mary's Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Dear Renae and RoseAnn,Please know that my thoughts are with you with the passing of your Dad. I work for Dr. Matteucci and was able to get to know Loyd during his visits to our office. I knew smitty for over 30 yrs he was always a fun person to be with. I last seen him in sept of 07 as always was full of fun. God bless all of his friends and family. Sharon and I will miss him.

I am sorry to hear of Loyd's passing. We have been friends since grade school and had many great times together with our families and friends. Smitty and I went to the auto races for many years at Milwaukee state fair park and had lots of fun. I will miss him as one of may good friends. sincerely Les Browning
