Elizabeth Mattox, of Kenosha, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 7th, 2007, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged. Born in Elberton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Finnida (Hill) Almond. She lived in Georgia, Kentucky and Michigan before coming to Kenosha in 1951 to make her home. On April 17, 1938, she married Tate E. Mattox in Elberton, GA. He passed away May 19, 1997. She owned and operated Liz & Tate's Lunchbox from 1955 to 1959. She also worked doing house cleaning and alterations out of her home. Elizabeth was a member of Second Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and helping the needy. Surviving are a daughter, Jean (Willie) Johnson of Kenosha; a grandson, Orson (Tamara) Valley; a great-grandson, Addison Noah Valley; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Yancy and James Anderson, and Alton Almond. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12th, at Second Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
