Robert Hugo Wente, age 90, of Kenosha, died on April 30th, 2007. Born June 22, 1916, in Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late Oscar and Gertrude (Kiffmeyer) Wente. He grew up in Cincinnati, OH, and graduated from Walnut Hills High School and then from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, with a B.S. in Business Administration. He worked at the Wright Aeronautical Plant in Cincinnati in the Engineering and Sales Department for several years until World War II. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the war. He was stationed at the Nash plant in Kenosha that was making aircraft engines for the Navy. On July 24, 1943, he married Emogene Louise "Gene" Grill in Kenosha. When the war ended, he worked as a Manufacturer's Representative for the Yale Rubber Company of Sandusky, Michigan. He covered the state of Wisconsin until his retirement in 1981. He belonged to the Kenosha Country Club for more than 50 years and was an avid golfer who had 7 "hole-in-ones" in his lifetime. He served as President of the Club in 1979. He was a member of the former Kenosha Elks Lodge 750 and a member of the Tripoli Shrine Club. He belonged to the First Congregational Church and served on its various boards for many years. After retirement, he spent the winter months in Florida where he belonged to the Seven Springs Country Club in New Port Richey, FL. He is survived by his wife of 63 years; two sons, Steven (LeaAnn) Wente and David (Janet) Wente, both of Kenosha; three daughters, Susan Wente and Sandra Pugh, both of Racine and Ann Clark of Boulder, CO; and six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Jane Fairchild of Pompano Beach, FL. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd, at the First Congregational Church of Kenosha, 5934-8th Avenue, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
