Virginia Elenor JOHNSON
Virginia E. Johnson, 83, of Kenosha, was born into eternal life on February 7th, 2007. Born on May 7, 1923, she was the daughter of her late beloved parents Fred and Minnie (Flug) Krahner. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended St. Luke's Lutheran School and Friedens Lutheran School. She graduated from Kenosha Bradford High School. On December 6, 1941, she married Reinhold Kubarth, her childhood sweetheart. He was killed during a practice flight over the Gulf of Mexico while preparing for overseas duty during World War II. Several years later at a special gathering, Eugene M. Johnson approached her to express his sympathy for the loss of Reinhold, also Eugene's friend. Eugene M. Johnson and Virginia Krahner Kubarth were married on June 7, 1947. They were married for 57 years. He preceded her in death in August of 2004. Virginia was devoted to her Lord and church, St. Luke's Lutheran, of which her parents were charter members. She was very active in her younger years with the P.T.S. when her children attended St. Luke's School. She served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the ladies' club. Virginia's purpose in life was to be a wife, mother, and grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren and was an avid Packer and Tiger Woods fan. She is survived by children, Karen Lowther, Carson City, NV, Susan (Alex Jr.) Legler of Kenosha, Jane E. (Doug) Nelson of Kenosha, and Kate M. Johnson of Oconomowoc. A son, Jay S. Johnson, preceded her in death in August of 2001. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Brian (Lydia) Lowther of Tifton, GA, Susan K. Lowther of Carson City, NV, and Ryan, Jodi, and Taylor Nelson, all of Kenosha; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Ashlee Lowther of Tifton, GA; her sister-in-law, Carleen (Roy) Lindell of Glenview, IL and a nephew and two nieces. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Bandealy and staff for their care and compassion during Mom's illness and to Hospice Alliance for their much needed help and love. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10th, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation on Saturday at church from 10:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Luke's Church or Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533www.prokofuneralhome.com
