Isabel M. Jankus, 92, of Kenosha, passed away Thursday, July 20th, 2006, at Kenosha Medical Center. Born in Gary, IN, on September 18, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Lona (Regal) Mattern. She came to Kenosha along with her husband, Allan, in 1945, and has resided here since. She was a teacher in the Gary, IN, area for many years and once moving to Kenosha, she volunteered at St. Mark Catholic School as a teacher and also was secretary of the Christian Education Program at the church. On February 14, 1942, she married Allan Jankus in the Chapel at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. Isabel was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark Christian Women's Club, and the Four Seasons Garden Club. She loved flowers. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her husband, Allan of Kenosha; her niece, Nancy Southerland of Arlington, VA; and her nephew, Charles Southerland of Centreville, VA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Southerland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 25th, at St. Mark Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment at St. James Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday at the Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of Mass.
