Dan “The Man” Wilmot passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on October 29, 2026.
Dan was born on August 8, 1951, in Duluth, Minnesota, to the late Rueben Lingeren and Jean (Eggert) Wilmot. He was later adopted by his stepfather, Norman Wilmot. He moved to Kenosha as a young boy and graduated with the Bradford High School Class of 1969. During his high school years, Dan excelled on the football field, playing a variety of positions and developing the competitive spirit and love of athletics.
Following graduation, Dan was drafted into military service and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. It was during his time in the service that he earned the nickname “Duke,” thanks to his fondness for impersonating the legendary John Wayne. He also showcased his athletic talent as a pitcher for the Marine Corps Softball Championship team.
After completing his military service, Dan returned home to Kenosha, where he began working for American Motors. He later followed his entrepreneurial spirit and became the proud owner of Danny’s Bar. He eventually continued his career as a Quality Control Manager for JW Peters, where he worked until his retirement in 2013.
On May 26, 1973, Dan married the love of his life, Deborah “Debbie” Zocchi. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, creating a family that would become his greatest source of pride and joy. Nothing meant more to Dan than spending time with his loved ones, especially making memories with his four beloved granddaughters.
Dan took great pride in his athletic abilities and was a dedicated member of the Ying Yang Do Karate Association, where he achieved the rank of fifth-degree black belt. Equally rewarding to him was sharing his knowledge and passion as a karate instructor.
Always one to stay active, Dan enjoyed running and regularly participated in the Annual Kenosha Turkey Day Run. He loved bike riding with Debbie and spending time on the golf course. Never afraid to try something new, Dan took up the bass guitar in his fifties. He had a blast playing and covering classic rock hits, with a particular love for the Rolling Stones.
Dan will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Debbie; his children, Rocky (Dena) Wilmot and Marlow (John) Klug; his cherished granddaughters, Stella, Harlow, Farrah, and Penny; his brothers, Tim (Pam) Wilmot and Jeff (Francie) Wilmot; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Carla) Zocchi, Barbara (Rick) Wollert, Roxanne (Daryl) Wiesneth, and Michael Zocchi; his former sister-in-law, Renee (John) Piehl; and his aunt, Carol Hantz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 -11:00 AM, on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2223 51st St, Kenosha. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment at All Saints Cemetery.
