Talk of a Lifetime

It's time to have the talk about how you want to be remembered. It can make the difference of a lifetime.

Our Heritage

In 1928, James Crossin built the first

facility in Kenosha dedicated exclusively to providing funeral services.  It was located downtown at the corner of 60th Street and 12th Avenue.  At the time, other funeral homes were converted residences or businesses.  This historic "first" symbolizes our leadership in the community - a tradition that is carried on today by the Proko Family.

John Proko purchased the well-established firm in 1962.  His son, Larry, joined the family business in 1982.  Together, their leadership and dedication to excellence in funeral service have resulted in a number of significant achievements:

  • Proko Funeral Home was the first to install a crematory in Kenosha County, and remains the only funeral home in the county with a crematory on premise.
  • Both John and Larry are certified members of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice - a distinction earned only after rigorous academic and professional achievement.
  • Both men have served as President of the Wisconsin State Funeral Directors Association.
  • Proko Funeral Home has been awarded the Pursuit of Excellence Award by the National Funeral Directors Association for a number of years.
  • We are privileged to be a member of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, and the International Order of the Golden Rule.

Proko Funeral Home is locally owned and operated by the Proko Family.  Our roots are here in Kenosha.  That's why we take pride in the community.  Our entire staff is involved in numerous local charities, service clubs, churches, and other organizations dedicated to improving the quality of life in Kenosha.
