Obituary for John Sikich

John  Sikich
John Sikich, 85, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Froedtert South – St. Catherine’s Medical Center Campus.
Born in North Chicago, IL, on March 21, 1933, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Serdar) Sikich.
Following high school, John enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served from July of 1951 until his honorable discharge in November of 1954.
John was employed by US Steel for 30 years and retired in 1982. He had served as the representative of his union and as treasurer. Following retirement, John partnered with Evelyn Nickel, and ran the Wooden Nickel bar in Kenosha.
He enjoyed the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved camping. John was also a member of the Croatian Club. Above all else, John was proud to be a parent, grandparent, and great grandparent.
Surviving John is his long time significant other, Evelyn Nickel; his children, Daniel (Tammy) Sikich, Teri Sikich, Tami (Scott) Miranda, and Mark, Alan, Heidi, and Joseph Nickel; grandchildren, Danielle, Jessica, Raymond (Phoebe), Adam, Eric (Ruth), Anita (Oliver), Andrew, Jarret (Autumn), Michael, Domenic, and his pal Kyle; great granddaughter, Emma; and five other great grandchildren. He is further survived by four siblings, Mary Chambers, Millie Sisk, and Joe and Sharon Sikich; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
He is preceded in death by four siblings, Pauline Miller, and Zeke, Pete, and Mickey Sikich; and the mother of his children, Donna Netzer Sikich.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29th, at Proko Funeral Home, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 30th, at Proko Funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m. with military honors. Interment will be private.
