Alvin O. "Skip" Johnson
Alvin O. “Skip” Johnson, 75, of Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Froedtert South Kenosha Medical Center Campus.
Born in Kenosha on August 26, 1942, he was the son of the late Janet (Murray) and Edwin Johnson, and Alwin Brehm. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools.
Skip proudly enlisted in the US Navy on July 19, 1961 and was honorably discharged July 13, 1964. He served as part of the SeaBees in Okinawa, Japan and at Midway Island. Following his service, Skip became employed by the city of Kenosha as a Transit Vehicle Mechanic for 25 years until his retirement.
On April 29, 1967, he married Donna M. Vanderfin at St. George Catholic Church in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2011.
Skip enjoyed radio control hobbies, woodworking, and was an avid Packers fan. He was a Boy Scout troop leader for many years. He will be remembered for his love of storytelling.
Surviving are his three sons, Robert P. (Morgan) Jensen, Jeffrey M. (Lynn) Johnson, and Brian E. (Dena) Johnson; grandchildren, Brian E. Johnson II and Arizona S. Johnson, children of Brian, and Altin J. Jensen, son of Robert; step grandchildren, Gary, Gerry, and Jackie Lundskow, children on Lynn; niece, Heather (Randy) Matthiesen; and two nephews, Steve (Hope) and Bobby (Emily) Zoellner.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Lee Zoellner.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2nd, at Proko Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military honors.
