Charles King, 85, of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 19, 2017, at his residence.
Born in Kenosha on January 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert and Verda (Gatrel) King. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools, and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1949. Following graduation, he served in the US Army from 1952 until 1954.
On January 17, 1958, he was united in marriage with Beverly Anderson at St. Mary's Lutheran Church.
In 1957, he joined the Kenosha Fire Department and retired as Captain in 1988. Charles was a member of the Professional Fire Fighters Local 414 and a member of the Retired Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin.
Charles enjoyed golfing, playing baseball, and was a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Surviving Charles is his wife of 59 years, Beverly King; two sons, Michael (Pamela) King and Kevin (Carole) King; four grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Schneider, Andrew (Kim) King, Megan King, and Marissa (Jeff) Zimmerman; four great-grandchildren, Alex, Abigail, Meyla, and Emma King; and a sister, Sandie (Tom) Kleiner. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Wayne.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 22nd, at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, 2001-80th Street, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Green Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.
